About Gate Examination 2023

The GATE examination is an all-India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering, technology, and architecture. The official website for GATE 2023 has not been released yet. However, based on last year’s schedule, we can expect the application process to begin in the month of September.

The GATE score is valid for three years from the date of announcement of results. Candidates who qualified in GATE 2020, 2021 or 2022 can apply for admission in M.Tech/PhD programs at IITs, IISc, NITs, and other CFTIs starting from July 2021 onwards using their valid GATE score.

GATE 2023 will have a total of 27 papers (including two new papers on Environmental Science and Engineering and Humanities and Social Sciences). Candidates can appear for a maximum of two papers. The duration of each paper will be 3 hours.

The examination will be held in an online mode only. Candidates will have to solve 65 questions for a total of 100 marks. The question paper will consist of both objective and numerical answer type questions. There will be negative marking for wrong answers (-1/3rd mark).

Gate Syllabus

The GATE syllabus is vast and covers a wide range of topics. It is important to be aware of the topics that will be covered in the exam in order to prepare effectively.
